Ponte Vecchio |
Arno River |
Erected during Roman times, this is the most ancient and photographed
bridge in Florence, which is characterized by three arches and two wide
arcades on each side housing the famous and unusual "botteghe" or shops. The Ponte Vecchio is a Medieval stone closed-spandrel segmental
arch bridge over the Arno River, in Florence, Italy, noted for still
having shops built along it. Those shops mainly retail gold and silver jewelry made locally.
