Human presence is old and certified by a Neolithic flint workshop and
a burial from the same period. Remains of a Gallo-Roman exploitation of
the third and fourth centuries were discovered.
However, the Puyméras village was truly
created in the Middle Ages. It was long under the domination of the
Counts of Toulouse. Through marriages and separations, the fief came in
the hands of various families, including the Taulignan and Montauban
families.
Today, with its Cotes du Rhone vineyards, its olive, apricot & truffle groves, and its forest, Puyméras has a high agricultural value. Three domains have an organic approach to cultivate the vines.
