Human presence is old and certified by a Neolithic flint workshop and
 a burial from the same period. Remains of a Gallo-Roman exploitation of
 the third and fourth centuries were discovered.
However, the Puyméras village was truly 
created in the Middle Ages. It was long under the domination of the 
Counts of Toulouse. Through marriages and separations, the fief came in 
the hands of various families, including the Taulignan and Montauban 
families.
Today, with its Cotes du Rhone vineyards, its olive, apricot & truffle groves, and its forest, Puyméras has a high agricultural value. Three domains have an organic approach to cultivate the vines.
