Motovun - Istria, Croatia

Motovun is a village and a municipality in central Istria, Croatia. In ancient times, both Celts and Illyrians built their fortresses at the location of present-day Motovun. The name of the village is also of Celtic origin, derived from word Montona, that means "a town in the hills"
Surrounded by truffle-rich forest, which provides the key ingredient for top local restaurants here and in nearby town name Livade, Motovun stands atop a 277-metre hill overlooking the Mirna Valley. Sunsets are fantastic here, as are the views from the main bar in town, from Montona Gallery. Look out for other hill top village like Grožnjan.
