San Bernardino alle Ossa - Milan, Italy

San Bernardino alle Ossa is a church in Milan, best known for its ossuary, a small side chapel decorated with numerous human skulls and bones. In 1210, when an adjacent cemetery ran out of space, a room was built to hold bones. A church was attached in 1269.Super cool place to visit. The main church is less impressive to see than others in Milan, but the chapel containing the human remains is quite eerie. It's a very unique spot. Make sure to read up on it before as information on site is a bit lacking. Take Note: the Chapel with the bones is only open until 12pm lunchtime and closed Sundays. But it's well worth the visit. Very fascinating and creepy. You won't spend much time here. Maybe 5 or 10min plus some extra if you visit the church itself. A must visit!! Remember to not wear only a thank top and shorts in supper or they would not allow you to go in. It’s a really small ossuary. The “collection” shows lots of skulls and the ceiling is pretty adorned with bones as well. It’s free entry which is really pleasant compared to other ossuaries I have been. If you are visiting the Dome Cathedral area, definitely worth a check.
